Lanes of Lymington sign-up for FoodFest

Nicola & Peter Leyland-Jones owners of Lanes of Lymington Restaurant in Ashley Lane Lymington have come up with some very inventive ideas for the New Forest FoodFest.

Commencing on Saturday October 25th through October 30th there are to be pumpkin demonstrations, sugar blowing by Alan Collier from Brockenhurst College Catering, inter-active make-your-own-Christmas-pudding and the black and orange party night on Friday October 30th.

During the run up to the FoodFest there is to be an ongoing auction of a painting by local artist Norman Eason "Sounds of Lymington", depicting Lymington Quay. Nicola & Peter hope to raise £1,000 for Oakhaven Hospice.

Sales & Marketing Manger Gill Luckie will be organising a Bordeaux Dinner on October 31st along with Afternoon Cream Teas, a talk on "Food & Body Benefits" and a special Polo Lunch. Cruise Night at Dibden

The Waters Edge Clubhouse at Dibden Golf Centre has announced early details of their special cruise Night for FoodFest 2008. Held on October 25th this exciting event will feature a 5 course dinner, table service, Captains table, casino, raffle, Frank Sinatra tribute, a disco, fireworks and an ice sculpture! Wow! If you are a fan of the traditional English Cream Tea then The New Forest is the place to be in October. Traditional cream teas have long been a popular New Forest repast and three of our FoodFest participants are putting them on, local style, during FoodFest week. The Cloud Hotel, New Park Manor and Hoburne Naish are all going cream tea mad. Contact the individual establishments for details&booking. Go on - you know you can’t resist!

La Fosse at Cranborne announce their FoodFest programme

  • Saturday 25th October : Brunch with Cranborne chase cheeses. Local cheeses from Cranborne Chase will be presented by Martin Del-Bo. He will talk you through the process of cheese making and the farm. Then enjoy a delicious brunch buffet with local produce and sample those cheeses for yourself. Arrival at noon. £19.95 per person. Several large tables, where guests will sit together.
  • Sunday 26th October : Traditional locally produced Sunday roast. Choice of locally produced Sunday roasts, as well as other delicious, local and seasonal lunch dishes. Noon until last order 2.30pm. Two courses £17.95 / Three courses £22.95
  • Monday 27th October : Old traditional favourites from your grandmother's kitchen. Traditional dishes using our best local and seasonal produce. 6.30pm until last order 9pm. Three courses £22.95

Well known local restaurant Piccolo Mondo has now confirmed details of its special FoodFest dinner for Oakhaven on October 29th. All roads will lead to Milford-on-Sea and this popular Italian Restaurant where a special three course dinner will be served at just £25 pp. £5 of this will be donated to Oakhaven. New Forest Producers’ Dinner: At the Thatched Cottage we put a lot of emphasis on sourcing most of our ingredients from within the boundaries of the New Forest, allowing us to provide our guests with the freshest of ingredients. Now we would like to go one step forward and emphasize the importance of this effort in an evening entirely devoted to the producers of our special region. We will be putting together a six-course taster menu featuring the New Forest’s best ingredients in conjunction with a lively discussion amongst the producers themselves on the benefits of sourcing locally. Moreover guests will be encouraged to participate in the discussion through questions or insights of their own. This promises to be an evening that will not only excite the taste buds, but also stimulate the thought process.

Halloween Fancy Dress Dinner: This year for Halloween the Thatched Cottage team will be opening its doors to an interactive evening of fine dining and fancy dress. We will be inviting guests to disguise themselves imaginatively, while we promise to cook and present our finest cuisine in complete spirit of the holiday. The evening will commence with cocktails and hors d’œvres so guests may view each others’ costumes and show off their own. Next, we will present you with a seated three course menu, which will then be followed by coffee, petits fours, and a contest for the best dressed. The winner of course will walk away with a complementary prize. Whoever said Halloween was a children‘s holiday?!
